the homestead

Nick surprised me to a trip to the historic Omni Homestead Resort  in Hot Springs, Virginia for our first anniversary.  As much as I love modern architecture and decor, there is something about a structure and cultural mainstay that has been around from the 18th century that is so alluring.  Visited by Thomas Jefferson and 21 other presidents throughout the centuries, it’s a gorgeous resort built uopn natural hot springs.  Walking the halls is like stepping into a time vortex.  Check out some of the cool decor.

So much of it is based in geometric pattern and repetition.  It’s interesting to see how something so old in a way feels fresh with bright colors and texture.  Did you see those awesome globe pendant lights up there?  They are in the pool area, where Eisenhower would swim.  And you have to love a row of rocking chairs to relax in on warm days.  Much like our wedding day, the weekend was a little chilly and slightly overcast, but we stayed warm in the historic hot spring pool!
